About Becki Soft Tissue Therapy

Meet Becki

Hi, I'm Becki, I'm a soft tissue therapist based in Bristol. I'm a keen climber and surfer and began practicing soft tissue therapy after recovering from an accident I had where I fell from the climbing wall and hurt my back. This left me in pain for months and stopped me from doing many of the things I love, which in turn had a negative impact on my mental well-being.

I also have a background in Psychology, so I understand and am particularly interested in the effects of massage on mental health and its complex influence upon our physical health and experience of pain and discomfort. I believe everyone’s experience with pain is unique and can be driven by many factors, so I take this into account within my practice.

I support clients with massage for relaxation, sports and deep tissue massage to aid recovery, and offer more specific injury assessment and rehabilitation advice.

You won’t see a long list of different services available to book through my website because each treatment I provide is tailored to your needs and how I can support you to move and feel your best. So, whether that’s taking an hour out to recharge in my calming therapy room, finally addressing that ongoing niggle, looking for support with menopausal and age related changes, or improving overall movement to reach a specific goal, we’ll explore that together and put together a treatment plan that’s right for you.

Let's Talk About Posture

Something I often hear from clients is, “I know my posture is bad” or “I’ve been told my posture is the cause of my pain”... especially when talking about their experience with back and neck pain.

So, what if I told you, that isn’t necessarily the case? That the perfect posture doesn't exist, and that posture alone, does not cause pain.
Despite there being an industry built on the idea of bad posture and how to correct it to alleviate and remedy pain, there is a real lack of research evidence showing a correlation between the two and creating fear in this way isn't helpful.
It's important to note though, that we are more likely to experience pain and discomfort when we are frequently in the same posture or position for prolonged periods of time. Our bodies like variety of movement.
We are also more likely to experience injury when we suddenly demand something of our body that it isn’t used to or prepared for. Now think about that with variety of movement in mind. The more varied range of movement our bodies are used to accessing, the less likely they are to get injured.
Variety is the spice of life. Sprinkle some on your range of movement.

"I have been having massage with Becki for over two years now. She is amazing and I always feel relaxed after a session. I recently had an injury to my foot/leg and the massage helped enormously with my recovery. Highly recommend Becki."

"I saw Becki after 3 weeks of chronic neck pain and no sleep. After one session, the pain was reduced by about 90%, I had my range of movement back and I was able to sleep again! Becki also gave me some stretches to do to aid my recovery. It was like a miracle!!"

FAQs

Is soft tissue therapy suitable for me?

I run an inclusive practice and aim to provide treatments that are accessible and welcoming for all. Clients are welcome to bring a chaperone along with them to treatments and this is a requirement for both vulnerable adults and those under the age of 18. Some medical conditions may mean it is necessary to delay treatment or seek further advice from your GP prior to treatment. After consultation I will let you know if this is the case.

What does treatment involve?

My aim is to support you to feel your best and achieve your goals, so that will be different for everyone. As well as hands on massage, I use a variety of techniques to improve mobility and range of movement and offer advice for you to implement at home.

What products do you use?

All the products I use within my practice are vegan and cruelty free. I have products to suit all skin types. If you have allergies or sensitivities we will discuss this prior to treatment to find the best product for you.

What should I wear?

During treatment your comfort is priority, so wear whatever you are comfortable in. Bare skin is best for any work that involves lotions or oils, but there’s no need to remove briefs and you will be covered with towels or sheets throughout. Treatment can also be adapted to incorporate work through clothing if you feel more comfortable with this.

What if I need to cancel my appointment.

Sometimes things come up that mean you may need to reschedule, and I am happy to accommodate this. I operate a 24-hour cancellation policy after which full payment will be required but you will be able to reschedule your treatment.
